2017-18 Scholarship Recipients

Incoming Ohio State Students

Nicholas Frederick (Edison)

Nick’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, class rank #2, Academic Challenge Team, Team Captain in Football, Basketball and Baseball, First Team All-Ohio Center in Football, Buckeye Boys State, Mock Trial Team Lead Attorney, owns a lawn care company, and volunteers for the Edison Athletic Boosters. Nick plans to major in finance at OSU and then attend law school. He is the recipient of the Alumni Scholars Program Scholarship which is awarded to our top rated candidate.

Maria DiVita (Huron)

Maria’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society Secretary, Band President, 1st chair Trumpet, Letter winner in Basketball, Cross Country, and Track, District II Honors Band and volunteers at Safety Town and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at OSU.

Sydney Smith (Sandusky)

Sydney’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, Senior Class President, Superintendent’s Executive Leadership Academy, 4 year Cheerleader & Captain, received her Cosmetology License, and volunteers at many community activities. She plans to major in Business Management at OSU. She is the recipient of a Chris Corso Scholarship awarded to an outstanding Sandusky High student.

Rachele Windau (St. Mary CC)

Rachele’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, captain of Volleyball and Basketball teams, a top 5 equestrian at the Ohio State Fair, Best in Show Art Award and State qualifier and volunteers at Big Brothers Big Sisters. At OSU, she plans to major in Marketing in the Fisher College of Business. She is the recipient of the Robert Kieffer Memorial Scholarship awarded to an outstanding St. Mary student.

Cameron Anderson (Perkins)

Cameron’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, #1 ranking in his class, Varsity Soccer Captain, Academic All-Ohio (Soccer), Varsity Baseball, National Math Honors Society, Aim for Excellence, and volunteers teaching young children at Elyria Recreation Center. Cameron plans to major in Computer Science at OSU.

Elizabeth Mills (Huron)

Elizabeth’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, American Legion Test 1st Place Award, 1st place Spring Arts Festival, Varsity Tennis Letters, 2nd Team All SBC, and volunteers on the Teen Library Council. She plans to pursue a career as a Speech Language Pathologist at OSU.

Daija Kidd (Sandusky)

Daija’s many accomplishments include National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Cheerleading Captain, Student Council Vice-President, Elk’s and Rotary Student of the Month, Swan Club, School Musical, and volunteers at Make a Difference Day. She plans to major in Business Management at OSU. She is the recipient of a Chris Corso Scholarship, awarded to an outstanding Sandusky High student.

 

Current Ohio State Students

David Linden (2014 graduate of Sandusky High School)

David is an Electrical Engineering student at OSU and upon graduation plans to obtain a position utilizing education specialized in the Controls area. His other activities include Buckeye Current ( an Electric Motorcycle Club), Buckeye Capital Investors, and is a Scott Dining Hall employee. He is the recipient of a Hancock Engineering Scholarship.

Zachary Frederick (2014 graduate of Edison High School)

Zack is an Honors student majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Architecture. He is interning at NASA Glenn-Plum Brook again this summer. He activities include President of Design/Build/Fly Engineering Club, Sigma Gamma Tau (Aerospace Honor Society), and AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). He works as a course grader for the College of Engineering. He is the recipient of a Hancock Engineering Scholarship.

Nicolette Genter (2015 graduate of Perkins High School)

Nicole is a finance major in the Fisher College of Business and plans to become a Financial Advisor to families. Her activities include Delta Sigma Pi ( a Professional Business Fraternity) where she is Chairman of the investment committee within the organization and is training to be a Scarlet and Gray Financial Coach. She is the recipient of the Croteau Scholarship awarded to an outstanding business student.

Danielle Schwerer (2015 graduate of Perkins High School)

Danielle’s field of study is Social Studies and English while majoring in Middle Childhood Education. She plans to become a 4th to 9th grade teacher and continue her higher education. She is a member of Delta Gamma fraternity and works as a volunteer.

Tyler Puckrin (2014 graduate of Perkins High School)

Tyler’s field of study is Agriculture while majoring in Biology & Agronomy and minoring in Agribusiness. He plans to obtain a Master’s Degree and a position within Genetic Engineering. He is a peer mentor for the Exploratory Program and a member of Crops & Soil Club and the Agribusiness Club.

Kyle Prete (2016 graduate of Vermilion High School)

Kyle’s field of study is Medicine while majoring in Biology. He would like to become a sports medicine physician employed by a clinic, college, or professional sports team. His activities include Leadership Council for Dunn Sport and Wellness Scholars Program, First Year Leadership Initiative, Athletic Band, and is employed at the Recreation and Physical Activity Center.

Robert Morton III (2015 graduate of Edison High School)

Robert is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and plans to obtain a position with an automotive company and work on improving engine emissions. He is a member of the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars Program where he volunteers for many of their activities. He is also an engine team member for the Formula Buckeyes SAE Race Team. He is the recipient of a Hancock Engineering Scholarship.

Megan Myers (2016 graduate of Perkins High School)

Megan is majoring in Marketing within the Business College and hopes to obtain a position in management. Her activities include Pathways for women in Supply Chain Management Scholars Program, BuckeyeThon Team Captain, American Marketing Association, Fisher Citizenship Program, Fashion Forward, and a participant in the Ohio State Leadership Collaborative.
